Jeff Alling, MD

Jeff Alling, MD is a board-certified Family Medicine specialist. He graduated from Texas A&M College of Medicine in 1987. He completed his residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Medicine, Texas Academy of Family Medicine, Texas Medical Association, and the Christian Medical Society.

Dr. Alling began practicing in Decatur in 1990 and was a founding member of Wise County Medical and Surgical Association in 1996. He continues to enjoy practicing obstetrics and caring for entire families. He also serves as the Decatur Eagle team physician.

Dr. Alling resides in Decatur and married his wife, Natalie, in October 1988. He has four children; Nathan, Jonathan, Hannah, and Sarah. His hobbies and interests are his family and golfing.

Denise Casper, DO

Denise Casper, DO is a board-certified family medicine physician with over 16 years of experience. Dr. Casper graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Biology before attending the University of North Texas Health Science Center where she became a Doctor of Osteopathy. Dr. Casper is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.

An extensive background in the field of medicine, ranging from treating newborns to geriatric patients, has well-prepared Dr. Casper for her current role at Wise County Medical and Surgical Association where she sees patients aged 1 year and up. One of her favorite aspects of practicing medicine in Decatur is the ability to care for whole families and see generations of patients grow under her care.

Dr. Casper’s philosophy is to treat each patient with the same level of care and concern as if she were treating one of her own family members. When she is not seeing patients, Dr. Casper enjoys traveling, camping, and cooking.

Brad Faglie, MD

Brad  Faglie, MD received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology at Stephen F. Austin State University. He attended Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine and then completed a family medicine residency with an emphasis on Advanced Obstetrics at Texas A&M Family Medicine Residency.

Dr. Faglie is board certified in Family Medicine and is a member of the American Association of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association, and the Texas Medical Association. He is currently serving as President of the Montague-Wise County Medical Association. He is a member of the medical staff of Wise Regional Health System and actively participates on the Ethics and Credentialing committee of the hospital.

Born and raised in Grapevine, Texas. Dr. Faglie and his wife and two children now reside in Alvord, Texas. His hobbies are expansive and include hunting, traditional archery, classical piano, literature, tobacco pipe making, and yoga. Once monthly he hosts a well-attended diabetic support group at WRHS.

Once diabetic and obese, Dr. Faglie now lives and teaches a philosophy of natural living and eating. Dr. Faglie’s favorite personal quote is, “If you can’t pick it, peel it, or kill it; you probably shouldn’t eat it.” Promoting ideal health through lifestyle and dietary change. He always strives to treat the ‘whole’ patient and encourages his patients not to limit themselves to the ‘normal’ way of eating and living. That which has led to a stark rise in metabolic disorders such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. Dr. Faglie achieved much of his dietary success by questioning the accepted dietary norms and he encourages his patient’s to do the same. He is known for his comfortable and comic manner and makes a point to push past professional boundaries for optimal communication with his patients.

Charles Majka, MD

Charles Majka, MD graduated from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 2009. He completed his residency at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas where he became the Chief Resident.

Dr. Majka is Board Certified in Family Medicine. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, Pediatric Student Association, and Family Medicine Student Association.

Prior to receiving his medical degree, Dr. Majka was employed with Wise County Medical Center where he shadowed and assisted the leading Family Practitioner. When he is not practicing medicine, Dr. Majka enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, golfing, fishing, and water skiing.

Thomas Steffen, MD

Thomas Steffen, MD brings 37 years of experience in Family Medicine to the community. He served in the US Navy for over 40 years, a tour of duty in Vietnam and retired from the Naval Reserve in 2002. He is fluent in Spanish, enjoys flying his plane, and loves to travel.

Dr. Steffen attended the University of North Texas in Denton earning his Bachelor’s degree and continued on to Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana to complete his Medical Degree. Upon completion of his residency at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Dr. Steffen opened his solo practice in Decatur in 1976. He later joined Wise County Medical and Surgical Association in 1996 to form a multi-specialty group practice.

With many years of medical outpatient practice, hospital patient care, and emergency room experience, Dr. Steffen brings a full range of medical care to his patients.

Sharla Carver, FNP-C

Sharla Carver, FNP-C is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner with an extensive background in the field of nursing. She attended Midwestern State University where she graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After practicing as a Registered Nurse for seven years, she attended Texas Tech University Health Science Center and graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing.

Nurse Practitioner Carver is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, Texas Nurse Practitioners, Sigma Theta Tau (an honor society for nurses), the Aesthetic Practice Association, and the North Texas Nurse Practitioner Association – Metroplex West.

Nurse Practitioner Carver has over two decades of experience in the field of nursing and is well-respected by both her peers and patients, alike. Although her past experiences in the field of nursing are plentiful, some of the most notable are providing family care services, coordinating trauma care, serving as the assistant director of nursing in the inpatient setting, performing aesthetic procedurals, pain management, and even working as a legal nurse consultant.

Mary Gardner, FNP-C

Mary Gardner, FNP-C is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner with 15 years of experience in the field of nursing in a variety of specialties, including Family Practice, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, and Nephrology. In 2018, she graduated with honors from Texas Tech University as a Family Nurse Practitioner while concurrently practicing as a critical care nurse in the Decatur ICU.

As a local North Texan, Nurse Practitioner Gardner appreciates the small-town feel of Decatur and enjoys having a longstanding patient-provider relationship with the town’s residents. She places an emphasis on getting to know her patients and discovering what makes each individual unique so that she can better serve them and their health needs while encouraging them to be active in their own care management.

When she is not seeing patients, Nurse Practitioner Gardner is usually spending time with her husband and their dog, Bruno. She and her family also enjoy visiting her parents’ house on the weekends where they share family dinners, along with her nephew and niece, who love board games almost as much as she does!

Devon Price, MSN, APRN, FNP-C 

Devon Price, MSN, APRN, FNP-C is a board certified Nurse Practitioner who has a passion for preventative and emergency medicine. His desire and enjoyment to help others is what led him to pursue a career in the medical field. Devon received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Governors University then went on to complete his Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington. Prior to this, he was an Emergency Medical Technician for 5 years. 

As a Nurse Practitioner, Devon strives to keep patients healthy to ensure that they continue to enjoy memories with their loved ones. His clinical specialties include emergency medical services, critical care nursing and family practice. 

Outside of medicine, Devon enjoys video games, hiking, and traveling. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and cat, Belle!

Megan DeLoera, PA-C

Megan DeLoera, PA-C is a certified Physician Assistant with an extensive background in the field of medicine. She actually got her start in the field of medicine as an Emergency Medical Technician. Following this experience, she graduated with honors from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She continued her education at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center where she received her Master of Physician Assistant Studies. She is also a fellow member of the Texas Academy of Physician Assistant and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. 

Physician Assistant DeLoera has an extensive background encompassing the treatment of newborns to geriatrics, preventative care, chronic disease management, urgent care, and more. Her philosophy is that effective medicine includes thoughtful integration of evidence-based practices in coordination with each patient’s distinct health goals and challenges. She achieves this by taking the time to listen to her patients so that she can provide them with optimal health care.

Patient Forms

All new patients will need to fill out the New Patient Forms prior to their first visit. Please bring these completed forms along with your insurance card and photo ID to your scheduled appointment. This will help to speed up the registration process.
